LIFE ADAPT-ALEPPO (LIFE20 CCA/ES/001809) has been presented at the VI Meeting of the SECF Forestry Working Group, which took place on Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Higher Technical School of forestry and environmental engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM).

The project has presented adaptive management techniques for post-fire regeneration of Aleppo pine masses and progress achieved in this regard, as well as the presentation of the experimental design of the tea bag index by the University of Castilla-La Mancha with the title of “Effects on the decomposition of organic matter in soils with post-fire treatment in Pinus halepensis forests”. UCLM technicians have presented the experimental design of the tea bags and the results achieved to date, as well as the expected results, revealing a methodology little used in the forestry field.

On the other hand, the beneficiary partner AGRESTA presented the communication “Network of stands demonstrating forestry techniques for adaptation to climate change in Aleppo pine forests of the LIFE ADAPT-ALEPPO project” through an exhibition and article.

Attendees have shown great interest in the topics we discussed, so participation in the Forestry Working Group of the Spanish Society of Forest Sciences (SECF) is considered an important milestone to achieve objectives of transfer and replicability of adaptation methodologies to the climate change used in the LIFE ADAPT-ALEPPO project.
