On Monday, March 10, 2025, the online conference ” Forest Management for Climate Change Adaptation in Aleppo Pine Forests: Private Forest Owners as a Key Player in the Future of Our Forests ” was held. This event was relevant for raising awareness among private owners about the importance of forest adaptation to climate change.
This event is an initiative of the Directorate General for Natural Heritage and Climate Action of the Region of Murcia, as a partner of the LIFE ADAPT-ALEPPO project, together with the project coordinator, the consulting firm Ingeniería del Entorno Natural, to provide practical and scientific information on the need to invest in forest resilience in the face of current environmental challenges.
Thus, with the support of the Official College of Forestry Technical Engineers ( https://www.forestales.net/ ), in the organization and moderation of the webinar , this day began at 4:30 p.m., in which:
- Miguel Chamón Fernández , a technician from the General Directorate of Natural Heritage and Climate Action, presented the LIFE ADAPT-ALEPPO project and its application in Aleppo pine forests.
- Lourdes Vicente Valero , from Natural Environment Engineering, presented the preliminary results of the project and the importance of investing in research.
- Esteban Jordán González , from the Natural Environment Engineering department, presented new tools for adaptation, including an early diagnosis viewer and a database for adaptation projects.
- Patricia Gómez Agrela , manager of the Confederation of Forestry Organizations of Spain (COSE), offered her vision of the present and future of the forestry sector in the context of climate change.
The day concluded with responses to questions from attendees, demonstrating the great interest generated by the type of activities developed through the LIFE ADAPT-ALEPPO project.
