On November 2, the UCLM team held a field day with Douglas Cram, professor at the State University of New Mexico, and Victoria Arcenegui, researcher at the Miguel Hernández University (Alicante).

On this day, information was transferred about the actions carried out in the Agramón demonstrative stand (Albacete) located inside the area that burned in 2020. This fire resulted in 100% mortality of the trees in an area of 275 ha.

Thus, the objectives of the LIFE ADAPT ALEPPO project were announced, emphasizing the objectives and methodology developed for action C5, dedicated to the implementation and monitoring of adaptive management techniques to improve the resilience and adaptive capacity of post-regeneration fire of the Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis).

During the day, it was possible to observe in situ the progress and results achieved with the LIFE project. With the development of this conference we contribute to the objective of transferring the techniques and tools implemented to the main actors and researchers in fire ecology and forest management, in order to improve the management and long-term conservation of the Aleppo pine habitat and combine proposals that bring us closer to mitigating global climate change. Furthermore, as a result of the conference, post-fire adaptive management can be replicated both nationally and internationally, for Aleppo pine and other forest species.
