On July 12 and 13, participants from the UPV team, AGRESTA and the Aragón Provincial Council carried out the necessary field work for the installation of 30 moisture sensors at different depths in a demonstration stand located in Sierra de Luna (Zaragoza) for the development of the demonstrative implementation action of silvicultural models based on ecohydrology for the management of Aleppo pine forests.

These sensors collect every 10 minutes the water content of the soil at the depth where it is installed. This allows knowing the magnitude and dynamics of the water before carrying out the silvicultural work and, consequently, when the treatments are carried out, it will be possible to assess whether they have produced a change in these dynamics and whether the change has been positive or negative.

Based on previous experiences, it is expected that the amount of water will be higher in the treated areas compared to the untreated ones.
